The Puyohs - We're Puyohs~~

It was a big event, I mean really big....it's called Star National Singing Competition 2009 and it's open for whole Malaysia. Thou I don't really like this competition setup but I have to accept that their equipment and preparation for the final was really awesome. The sound system and stage setup are from CMG the production crew for Jay Chou, Rain and Tohishiki's Concert...what can we say and CMG is actually from Mentakab~~See, how good is Mentakab people...muahahaha.

Ok let's get back to business....the event is really big and nice but the seats are not full and it looks like some cheap event where no people wants to go~~what a failure for the organizer.

Thou we haven't really jam with her before but we felt her passion and love for music is there. She's a grade 7 pianist and also a guitar player...so we decided to grab her into The Puyohs~

To be honest....I never think this will happened but too bad it really happened. Our Vocalist Phoon Sok Ling has been choosen as one Kim Marie Model and Ambassador. What a shock~!! Here's the picture. Enjoy~~

One fine afternoon when Alvin headed out for lunch suddenly his colleague saw this signboard on the road of somewhere near Jln Ipoh 1 Stop Cafe. It's really a shock when I see this...hahahahaha.

We've been playing a lot of acoustic cover lately, but we decided to choose this one as one of our main cover songs. 在你和天空之间 by 趙之壁. Enjoy~~

Yes, is weekend again~~!!! We're heading back to Mentakab our beloved hometown again. As usual, talk lotsa crap in the car while journeying back. Everyone felt incredibly tire when we reached Mentakab so not much of thing to talk about. Everyone went back and slept like pig I guess but meanwhile we had planned on having breakfast together the next day.

Saturday Morning:
Everyone came out around 10+ due to some pigs can't wake up and I don't wanna mention about him/her. A very cloudy morning and it seems wanna rain soon, it rained afterward thou at 12. We saw ferru, our friend selling sweat corn at the marketplace and grab some of his corns to eat and hang around at the coffee shop until 1 and we decided to play volleyball and badminton in the afternoon and evening. Called Ivan and ask him to organize.

Saturday Noon:
After that we went to Sok Ling's house to do some preparation before we head to do some badminton exercise. Guess what we did at Sok Ling's house?? We sang Karaoke. Hahaha, and cam whoring due to Sok Ling's last 2 days of her hair. Here're some of the pictures we took~~

Yo everyone, we're back to post something again. As promised, I'll post some of our vocalist Sok Ling aka. Potato's previous singing competition video. We went for lunch and discuss abit and chit chat a bit about our band future plan and what we want to do. Actually is just a normal lunch and when we mentioned about this blog she started to force me to upload this video up for her where she sang 衛蘭's 愛你還愛你 and manage to get into the semifinal.

Yesterday or more precise 11/11/09 was the day our vocalist Sok Ling did her comeback competition after lost her place last week at the knock out stage. I heard that my friends and some people there complaining why she doesn't make it to the top 15 and need to do some stupid comeback competition. So it started.......


The competition is starting at around 9, we reached there around 9 plus and this was the place they competing.



Bored to hell, we thought we're late but we waiting like half and hour + only the competition start. Shit.....we took this opportunity to snap some photos of ourselves....all lan yeng wanna show off. What to do~




After we played around....the event started at last....what a waste of time. Let us skip all the contestant because most of it you really don't wanna listen. From the start we already know Sok Ling will be one of the best contestant but just because some of the stupid judges let their own students into the semi final first....cilaka!! I guess the scare to lose their business if all his students can't even make it to semi....shit judges...F*(k off la~~

Nothing special actually. We didn't perform....hahaha. Is quite hard to look for performance now cuz we're still new and we're not indies yet. So we went back to Mentakab where our place of birth on Friday night. A tiring day made the whole gang sleeping in the car and left me driving all the way 125km back...cilaka..hahaha. Everyone straight head back home and sleep I guess.

Saturday afternoon,
Me, Sok Ling and Iys came out for our band discussion Stanley too busy for his cousin's wedding so he can't make it. It's about playing gigs for pubs and their terms and conditions. To be honest we really wanna try out these kind of event cuz it's not only a place for us to perform but also to get experiences and money. So we discuss and everyone quite excited to do it. So maybe we'll start on this programme next year.

Saturday evening,
After the converstaion, we shift our converstation to playing volleyball that evening. Is quite embarassed to say this but the 4 of us are our secondary school represenative volleyball player. Iys was the captain for team 2003 male and Sok Ling was Captain last few years. Haha, for more details, please don't ask...you don't wanna know. The volleyball game start on 5.30 people everyone started playing on 6+. Had a good game with Iys damned bored without doing anything at the opponent's side and me & sok ling "wearing my all time fave. fly emirates arsenal t-shirt cuz she don't have t-shirt at home. Damn huge la the shirt for her. Hahahhaa" keeping our top form with a Pahang player on our side. Not too on form thou Sok Ling...like Lala mui playing volleyball..wahahaha. But the best still Iys, his expression freaking stone due to his teammate noobness..kakaka...serve u right la Iys!! Ended with a yum cha session at soya drink stall and saw our old buddy Kevin Wong a very talented guy who do very well in study, sport and music. Admired him~~what a great guy~

Saturday night,
During the night time me and Iys came out with our former band's drummer Shuen Ying aka. Sei for a drink at D'island Cafe Termerloh. Cuz damn long didn't see her already. She kinda miss me and Iys I guess...wahahahaha. We went home at 11+ and ended up sleeping.

Sunday Afternoon,
A pratice session this time. We went to a jam studio located somewhere near Maybank Mentakab. The stuffs there's not very good. The mic is the worst...I don't know how to say it but you can try it if you're interested. Just give me a call and I'll give you the studio's no. if you want. The jamming sessions go off not very well...we know we can do better than that. Bassically the day is just we jammed till night all of us heading back to KL together and ended with Man United lost to Chelsea....what a day~~haiz~

Sunday, the only day we can do our full band practice because everyone of us is working their ass off. So the only day we can do that is just sunday afternoon or at jamming studio outside. We quite got ourselves there while we're covering these 3 songs. Lenka's "trouble is a friend", The Cranberries's "Zombie" and Chiang Mei Qi's "Mirror" and also Mayday's "Yung Bao". It's actually quite good, the bass, guitar and vocal....drumming still can be better or add on. But overall is decent to listen. Next time will record it for sharing.

A tiring Saturday, it start out with me, Iys, Stanley from our house all the way to Sok Ling's house...waited her for around 10 minutes and that time was around 6 o'clock and I promised Lenn to wait at Cheras KK foodcourt at 6...hahahaha, and we're late. Sorry Lenn, you're so damn good.

Soon when we got Lenn at KK he told us that the concert started at 6....we're like &(*^ shit why didn't you tell us earlier..but when we reached there the concert haven't even close to start yet...long queue to wait but while waiting the concert started and everyone rushed in.

This is Sok Ling's first time to live band concert so she's quite excited at the start. It started with disagree....I don't really know them actually. But I heard one of their song, "it's ok" I don't think is the correct name but "it's ok" la. And then Pop Shuvit the second band to play, I also heard one of their most famous hit only, the "IMPAK MAKSIMA" theme song. Hahaha, I'm not so into local band, really.....that's why i need to tuition more on this. And last but not least One Buck Shot...not really cool thou but "it's ok"~~

We're quite excited when all the bands done performing but do you know how long we've waited for "AAR" to come out...is like freaking half and hour and DiGi is so damn cool, they entertain us nothing while waiting and play some repeative video and the video is like only goes on for 5 minutes and repeat and repeat. We're all stoned till wanna die man. But once they came out, the crowd became high and everyone's jumping!! But the thing is, our Vocalist is standing stone and no face espression...damn funny weh....kakakaka...me, iys, stanley and lenn like jumping here and there.

The concert was great, "ALL AMERICAN REJECT" members are great too...Tyson is a very unique vocalist...I don't know how to describe. You go and judge yourself. After the concert we went to KK foodcourt to grab some food and watch Liverpool vs Fulham. Liverpool rocks man~~wahahahaha...3-1 lost to Fulham.

I think I won't write much this time cuz I'm working..I'll end it right here. After everything, our day end with sending Sok Ling back and been blocked by Police....they fucking check us for nothing, maybe because IYS looks like a criminal to them...wakakakakaka....that's all...tooooooootttttt.....

Got a good news from Lenn last weeks asking whether we wanna watch the "All American Reject" concert or not. I was like "WOAH!!" Lenn, thank you thank you~!! I love you so much~~!!! At first he asked izzit the four of "The Puyohs" band will all go izzit because he've got 4 tickets only and he even said he's not going and let us 4 to go. I scolded him don't be stupid...go and find another 1 or else one of us is not going. So he found us another ticket. Thank you Lenn!!!

The other reason I want Lenn to find another ticket for us is because I wanted to let Ah Ling to feel what Live Concert and Live Band means. She's a bit dumb in these kind of stuffs. Just started to learn. So be patience. She's a good vocalist...listen to her and you'll know.

So, that's all for this post~We're freaking coming for you "ALL AMERICAN REJECT!!!"

One fine Tueday, when I'm working. I received a text message from Iys telling me that there's good news. Tonight our another vocalist will be coming over for our first band practice. Excited speechlessly till he told me the second good news, we'll be performing at SMKM, our own secondary school's Interact Club IU Day. So basically is just 3 days before the performance...yeah great. At first I felt, maybe is impossible for us to play there already but when I heard Sok Ling's voice, I've confident.

We've choose a few songs for the event, some are basically the previous gig songs. Can't Take My Eyes Off You and Time Is Running Out, other than that are 2 Chinese song where we felt that Sok Ling's voice is more suitable for Chinese song. 對面的女孩看過來 as a introduction performance and 小手拉大手. We just choose these songs out of nowhere. So please bear with us for the bad performance. Here you go :

Alright, is time for some action since we've found everyone for the band. We'll rock the first stage of our journey at Hwa Lian Hall for their Interact Club's IU Day 2009. We've been practicing quite some time for the 3 songs we're playing on that day but we could not find vocals yet. The songs are :

1. Uno by Muse
2. Time Is Running Out by Muse
3. Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Muse

Luckily Jiaee and Ivan came to rescue. They help us out by singing all those songs, Ivan sang Uno and the rest sang by Jiaee. Here're the clips from the performance, enjoy.
Awesome show, the place is like hundread over people but we played like normal. We do felt presure and quite stress especially the night before the show. I think I'm like sick and not feeling well that day....I think is because I'm too presure. I guess Stanley, Iys, Jiaee and Ivan felt the same too. But overall is a good show because I did it quite well. I don't care the people down there like it or not because we did what and all we can. There're claps and cheering as well too. So I assume is quite a performance too. Thank you Danny, Sim, Shuen Ying and Li Ting for supporting and following us all the time. Really apreciate that. Especially Danny for recording the whole performance for us thou you don't really know how to operate that video cam. That's why the sound quality is a bit mess up. Still thank you everyone~!!

At last, The Puyohs have their own blog. Not just post at facebook or youtube anymore, now we'll spread more of our news at our own blog.
